Not all bongs are dishwasher safe. Glass bongs without decals, metal parts, or percolators can usually handle a gentle cycle, but we still recommend handwashing with isopropyl alcohol and warm water to keep them in top condition. Silicone bongs are generally safe for the dishwasher — just remove any glass bowls or downstems first.
Bongs can reduce exposure to harsh smoke thanks to water filtration, which cools and filters out some particles. However, they don't eliminate toxins entirely. While smoother than joints, bongs are not "healthy" per se — but they may be a slightly gentler option for your lungs when used with dry herbs.

Ideally, you should clean your bong every 1–3 uses and pipes weekly (or more often if used daily). Regular cleaning keeps flavour fresh and prevents buildup. A mix of isopropyl alcohol and coarse salt works great, or check out our dedicated pipe cleaners and screens in the collection.
Smaller to medium-sized bongs (around 20cm–30cm) are usually ideal for beginners — they’re easier to handle, clean, and store. Avoid large, multi-perc bongs at first, as they can be overwhelming. Simple silicone or beaker-style glass bongs are a great place to start.
